Asturagua and Fundación Aquae grant to an asturian university student the scholarship of Fundación ONCE ‘Opportunity to the Talent’

The university student, Victoria Castañeda, has been selected by Asturagua and its foundation, Fundación Aquae, to receive the scholarship program graduate ‘Opportunity to the Talent’ that promotes Fundación ONCE with the objective of improving the training of graduates with disabilities and facilitate their labor inclusion in quality jobs.

The Degree in Fine Arts, Victoria Castañeda, will be able to pursue a Master's Degree in Compulsory Secondary Education, Bachelor's and master's professional training at the University of Oviedo, thanks to this scholarship graduate school. "This grant means a great help to cope with all kinds of college expenses and, in my case, also to defray an electronic device for performing work, work order to Master, or to access the electronic platform of the university", explains this student. "The arrival of students with disabilities to degrees and postgraduate studies is very limited and relatively recent, but I would like to serve as an example to other many students who are in my situation and had fears, doubts or difficulties," she adds.

 

Victoria Castañeda intends to pass the exam for professor of Compulsory Secondary Education in the modality of drawing and continue learning by performing a Doctorate related to education and training of people with disabilities.

The demand and the number of scholarships ‘Opportunity to the Talent’, cofinanced by the European Social Fund (ESF) within the framework of the Operational Program of Social Inclusion and Social Economy (2014-2020) Poises, have been growing steadily since its inception five years ago. In the first edition of the program there were 237 applications for 54 scholarships, and in the current edition 90 scholarships have been granted and received 358 requests.

As a result of the agreement established in 2013 between the Fundación Aquae and Fundación ONCE, the volume of workers with a disability who works in the marks of the Suez Group, of which the Foundation is a part, already exceeds the 2% law for public or private companies that have a workforce of more than 50 employees.
